7 questions: Kohler Brand K&B president Salil Sadanandan shares his life mantra, list of favourites

Salil Sadanandan joined Kohler in 2012 as managing director for the brand's operations in India and Sub Saharan Africa. Over the years, his role in the company grew, and now he is the president for Kohler's Kitchen and Bath verticals for South Asia, the Middle East and SSA.

In a quick chat, the business leader shares some of his life mantras, favourite football club, movies, music and more.

What is your favourite travel destination?

In India, it’s Kerala – I love the greenery in that state. Also, it’s where my parents live. Abroad, I love Barcelona with its profusion of art, architecture and the great food scene – FC Barcelona is also my favourite football club.

Are you a film buff?
Yes, to some extent - the last movie that I watched was Don’t Look Up – it was absolutely riveting. I don’t watch too much Bollywood but I found Mirzapur very engrossing.

What is your favourite cuisine?
I am divided between Thai and Italian. There’s also something about the Indian coastal cuisine that I really love.

What kind of music do you listen to?
I am rather narrow in my tastes and prefer to listen to rock, the harder the better. I love Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, to name a few.

What are the ‘must haves’ in your wardrobe?
I am not too conscious of what I wear but I love my pair of blue jeans. In formals, one should always have a well-cut Italian suit, like Canali.

Your pet peeve?
When people do not respect your personal space. In India, crowds are a part and parcel of our landscape but what gets my goat is people jostling and pushing one another, even the elderly, to have their way.

Your life mantra?
Live and let live. There should be no room for intolerance in one's life.
