6 yrs on, Tendulkar finally reveals his ‘advice’ to Virat Kohli during 2011 World Cup final

The 2011 World Cup final was one of the biggest matches in the lives of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. When Tendulkar got out, caught behind for just 18, silence crashed upon Wankhede Stadium. Kohli was the next man in, and Tendulkar had a word with him as they crossed paths. Cricket fans have been wondering what the veteran told his successor.

Tendulkar recounted his tip to Kohli during a chat with reporters in Mumbai recently. “There was dew and the ball had stopped swinging, but the ball I got out to did swing,” Tendulkar said. “That’s what I told Virat, that the odd ball was swinging.”

Kohli scored a useful 35. Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni scored heroic knocks. The ball may have moved a bit but the pendulum swung India’s way.
