The countdown has begun for 45, a pan-India Kannada film that brings together stars Shivarajkumar, Upendra and Raj B Shetty. Backed by producer Ramesh Reddy under the Suraj Productions banner, the film marks an important new chapter for music composer Arjun Janya, who steps into direction for the first time. Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 25, 45 has already generated strong curiosity for both its cast and its unusual subject.

Streaming details of 45 after its theatrical run

Set to arrive in cinemas on Christmas Day, 45 makers have planned a wide rollout, with the film releasing in five languages - Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. This pan-India approach shows the scale of the project and the confidence around its content, especially given the presence of three actors known for their distinct screen personas.

However, 45 has also achieved something rare in recent times. Unlike most Kannada films that finalise their post-theatrical plans based on box office performance, this film has already locked its satellite and digital partners ahead of release. Eagle-eyed fans noticed, and according to the OTTPlay report, from the second wave of posters onwards, Zee Kannada and Zee5 logos have been prominently displayed, making it clear where audiences can expect to watch the film after its theatrical run.

While the exact streaming date has not yet been announced, 45 will eventually premiere on Zee5, with its television broadcast set on Zee Kannada.

The promotional campaign is also picking up pace. The trailer of 45 is set to launch on December 15 at 8:01 pm. The makers have planned a special on-ground event for the launch, which will be live-streamed via satellite to one theatre each across seven districts, giving fans a chance to experience the visuals on the big screen along with the reveal.

More about 45

45 revolves around a deeply personal story. Arjun Janya has spoken in interviews about how the film was shaped by personal loss. After losing his brother during the Covid-19 pandemic and surviving a serious health scare himself, the composer-turned-director found himself drawn to questions about life, death and what lies beyond. Those thoughts eventually became the foundation of 45.

The film explores a belief rooted in Sanatana Dharma about the 45-day period after a person’s death, a time during which it is believed that the soul’s journey is decided. According to this belief, the soul either moves on to the afterlife or prepares for rebirth. In 45, Raj B Shetty’s character becomes the centre of this spiritual conflict. Shivarajkumar and Upendra are placed on opposing sides.

With a strong emotional core, a philosophical theme and a star-studded cast, 45 aims to offer something beyond conventional commercial cinema. Stay tuned for more updates!
