24-year-old Sanjana Arora is changing the way things work at D’Decor

When a member of a new generation joins the family business, certain changes are bound to take place. So was the case when Sanjana Arora, the elder daughter of Sanjay Arora, MD, D’Decor joined the family business. The 24-year-old, who joined the company three years ago and currently overlooks the blinds vertical, retail and HR, works in-sync with the beliefs of her generation. “I believe in economies of scale and distributing control, while my father believes in a more hands-on approach.”

Since joining the business, Sanjana has introduced changes like giving everyone a designation. “There wasn’t a traditional organisational structure. There were many people who were working for my father for 15 years and probably did not bother having a designation below their signature,” she says.

Arora attributes many things that she’s learnt to her father. “I have learnt there is no replacement for hard work. Ensuring that products are genuine in quality. And as a business rule, always know your costing.”.
