However, for model-turned-actor Lisa Ray, who has been friends with designer Wendell Rodricks for over 20 years, it’s been organic.

The duo came together for an event in Mumbai recently, where Ray shared a few anecdotes about their friendship. “Wendell and I have been dear friends for more than 20 years... even though it certainly dates me,” said Ray with a laugh.

Talking about what binds them together, Ray said it is their love for good conversation. “It was the world of fashion that initially brought us together, but it was our love of words, culture and for discussing everything that we were not defined by, that actually cemented our bond,” she added. Ray recalled the time she spent New Year’s Eve with Rodricks and his spouse Jerome in Goa. “We discussed everything under the sun, with great food, courtesy Jerome. A lot of the thought provoking subject matter came from Wendell.”
