There is an undeniable magic to Paris, a city where time seems to slow down. Stepping into a classic Parisian café, framed by the backdrop of charming cobblestone streets and the distant hum of the Seine, transports you straight into a different realm. Over a warm croissant and a perfectly brewed espresso, the bustling world melts away, leaving space for quiet reflection and creative daydreaming. It is the ultimate ritual of romance and nostalgia. Yet, while every corner bistro has its own allure, one particular Parisian café is stealing the spotlight for a truly unique and extraordinary experience.

Cafe Pli: Write a letter, receive it years later

A few months ago, digital creator Caitlin Bea posted a video on Instagram, sharing a glimpse into an alluring and rustic coffee shop in Paris called Cafe Pli. Beyond its aromatic brews, indulgent baked delicacies and lip-smacking savoury items, this cafe allows visitors to write a letter to their future self. But that’s not the best part. The cafe makes sure that the letter actually gets delivered to you by mail after 1,5, or even 20 years. How cool is that?

Cafe Pli, Europe’s first letter cafe, blends the warmth of a Parisian coffee house with the nostalgic art of time travel. Upon arrival, guests can select their favorite postcard and pair it with a refreshing beverage from the menu. While many choose to pen a private note to their future selves, visitors can also surprise a loved one with a delayed heartfelt message.

More about Cafe Pli

To make the memory even more tangible, a vintage-style photo booth tucked away in the back allows patrons to snap a picture to slip inside the envelope. A designated creative station provides complimentary pens, pencils, and felt-tip markers to customize the stationery. For the final touches, guests can decorate their envelopes with various stickers before securing them with a beautifully satisfying, custom wax stamp.

According to Cafe Pli's official website, the cozy establishment offers structured packages based on the chosen storage duration and the letter's final destination. A standard all-inclusive package including a postcard, an envelope, 3 stickers, a custom wax seal, a drink, and local shipping within France with 1 year of storage is priced at €15. Recognizing its global appeal to travelers, the cafe also provides dedicated international shipping options to ensure these handwritten pieces of the past eventually find their way to any corner of the world.
