Geetika shared a close bond with her father during her childhood. “Papa would watch TV with me, help with homework, and even cook amazing soup,” she recalled fondly. However, as she entered her teenage years, their relationship grew strained. “It was in 2020, we were all locked in the house – ek beer bottle ka do ho gaya, 30ml whiskey became a 90. And everything he said offended me– ‘Don’t wear that,’ or ‘Exam sar pe hai, padhai kab karogi?’ I would get annoyed,” she admitted.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

In 2022, her father’s health took a turn for the worse. Doctors diagnosed him with fatty liver disease and urged him to stop drinking. Unfortunately, he struggled to quit, and his condition deteriorated. By September 2024, the family received devastating news—he needed a liver transplant, and time was running out.


Without hesitation, Geetika offered to donate a part of her liver. “I said, ‘I’ll donate,’” she shared. Her decision shocked her family, especially given her young age, but doctors assured them it was safe. By the end of October, tests confirmed she was a match, and her father was informed. “He was shocked, he said, ‘I’ll never drink again after this,’ and he didn’t!” she recalled with pride.


The months leading up to the surgery were filled with hospital visits and preparations. During this time, Geetika and her father grew closer. “He opened up about his childhood and the struggles he faced while building his business. It felt like I had my old Papa back,” she said.

A Life-Saving Surgery

On January 5, 2025, the life-saving surgery was performed. Geetika admitted to being scared but found strength in her father’s words: “I’ll not let anything happen to you.” The recovery process was grueling—she spent a week in the ICU and endured significant pain for over ten days. Yet, the sight of her father regaining his health made every moment worth it.

“Watching him walk, eat properly, and laugh like he used to… that was enough for me. His ‘Dad jokes’ became my best medicine,” she said.
