A groundswell of affection has marked the retirement of Ashish Nehra. One reason for that is his contribution to the game. The other is his goofy personality. Nehra's mannerisms and blunt, Delhi-flavoured one-liners have entertained his peers and friends for years.

The left-arm bowler was at his comical best in an interview on an internet show. Talking about the ravages of injury, he said, "I've had 12 surgeries. Ankle, knee, elbow, hamstring…. Don't make me count. Ab bas."

Asked what was the one body part that has eluded the surgeon's knife so far, Nehra pointed to his tongue. And then he heaved with laughter and high-fived the host Gaurav Kapur. Thank you for the wickets, Nehraji. And the laughs.
