10-year-old promise: Kangana Ranaut keeps her word. Now, it’s Deepika Padukone’s turn
Kangana Ranaut continues her endeavors in politics and entrepreneurship, revealing plans to open her first café, The Mountain Story. In a throwback video, she had expressed a desire to establish a restaurant with a global menu. Despite past differ...

Earlier this week, on a Wednesday, Kangana shared a snippet via her Instagram Stories that was extracted from an older video posted by a dedicated fan page. The clip originates from the News18 Actresses Roundtable held in 2013, during which moderator Rajeev Masand posed the intriguing question, "Ten years from now, what would you like to be doing?” While her fellow panelist Deepika Padukone casually responded that she would be “still doing the same thing,” Kangana offered an alternative, creative response.
With characteristic enthusiasm, Kangana declared, “I would like to open a restaurant that boasts a global menu. Having savored cuisine from all over the world, I have gathered an assortment of exceptional recipes. I envision establishing a charming, intimate cafeteria in a picturesque setting, as I have a genuine talent for culinary endeavors.” In a playful exchange, Deepika replied, “I’ll be your very first client,” after which the two shared a moment of light laughter. In re-sharing the video clip, Kangana humorously captioned it, “If walking the talk had a face, it would be mine… and @deepikapadukone, you should certainly be my first customer.”
However, the rapport between Kangana and Deepika has experienced strains over time. When the Rajput Karni Sena threatened to alter Deepika’s appearance in response to her portrayal of Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 period epic Padmaavat, Kangana opted not to sign a petition supported by several prominent actors in protest of the threat. More recently, she confessed that she declined Deepika’s role in Padmaavat, considering the character insignificant.
Looking ahead, Kangana is set to star opposite her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R Madhavan in an upcoming project, with filming commencing soon after the release of Emergency. Meanwhile, Deepika was last seen lending her talents to Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Singham Again in 2024. Their dynamic journeys continue to captivate audiences and spark fervent discussion across platforms.
