XLRI receives exceptional response for internship offers
Despite the global economic slowdown, the summer internship for the batch of 2010 of XLRI School of Business and Human resources found 'exceptional' response by way of international offers and stipends.
XLRI Placement Committee Chairman Prof Rajiv Mishra, told newsmen that there was 'spectacular growth' on all counts-- internship, locations, stipends making XLRI the most preferred recruitment destination for all recruiters.
Claiming that there was an unprecedented 74 recruiters this time, he said over 200 internship offers were made for a batch of 180 students with 15 per cent of the profiles being offered internationally in North America, Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East.
The average stipend for the internship period, beginning in April next year, stood at over Rs 85,000-- a quantum jump of over 75 per cent from that of the last year, while over 45 students will draw a package well in excess of Rs one
lakh, he said.
There was also a five-fold increase in interships offered internationally by investment banks, fast moving consumer goods majors and industrial behemoths, Mishra said.
The finance sector recorded the highest number of offers, which stood at 41 compared to 31 last year in marketing.
