Urban Joblessness: The state of unemployment in the economy

The National Statistics Office on Saturday released a report on the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) for urban areas for Jan-Mar 2019 detailing key indicators including unemployment, labour force participation rate and industry-wise jobs scenario. ET looks at the findings of the report, which is based on the current weekly status (CWS) approach wherein a person is considered as unemployed in a week if he did not work even for 1 hour during the week but sought or was available for work at least for 1 hour during the week.
