MUMBAI: Tata group's Trent Hypermarket, is likely to hire over 4,000 people in its Star Bazaar over the next 14-months, a top company official said.

The company is planning to open 11 stores by the end of next fiscal (FY 11) taking the total number to 18.

"We will be hiring 300-400 people per Star Bazaar store. That is the number we usually require and employ in Star Bazaar," Trent's Managing Director, Noel Tata, told media on the sidelines of a retail summit today.

Tata also said that the company was primarily focusing on the southern and western regions for grocery and FMCG items presently. Going forward, the company will look at options in the eastern region as well, he said.

"On the grocery side, we are concentrating on the western and southern markets. However, we cannot ignore the eastern region. We have three Westside stores there and plan to open more of them. Similarly, we also have plans to open a few more Landmark stores selling books and music by FY 12," he added.

Presently, there are 41 Westside and 12 Landmark stores, pan-India.
