TCS to fund education of 200 PhD students over 5 years

IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said it will fund education of 40 doctoral candidates from various institutes every year in a bid to increase the talent pool in the country.

NEW DELHI: IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today said it will fund education of 40 doctoral candidates from various institutes every year in a bid to increase the talent pool in the country.

As a part of a programme launched by TCS, 40 doctoral candidates would be chosen by the company every year, over the next five years, TCS said in a statement.

The TCS Research Scholars will pursue original research in various aspects of computer science, it added.

Over a period of five years, TCS would fund 200 doctoral candidates.

"The TCS Research Scholars programme will help enlarge the R&D agenda and encourage exploration of new ideas by funding candidates in doctorate programmes," TCS CEO N Chandrasekaran said.

TCS Global HR Head Ajoy Mukherjee said, "The induction of 200 new PhD scholars into the academic eco-system over a period of five years, will enhance the pipeline of high quality faculty for colleges, part from generating new ideas and honing research talent."
