State employment exchanges to be accessible online: Fernandes

NEW DELHI: Government has said it would make all state exchanges accessible online soon.

Many states including Delhi have already done this, Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes said at VARIndia IT awards ceremony here last night.

"The Employment News, the weekly paper is already online. This is a complete interactive website, wherein one can search jobs, download forms and apply for jobs also," he said.

This site enables the candidates to post their forms besides providing results of the recruitment exams, he added.

Referring to growing employment opportunities in IT sector, the Minister said that Information and Communication Technology has so far provided around 16 lakh jobs this year.

"India may become a super power in the next 15 years in the field of ICT by using its highly talented young workforce," he said, adding that the domestic IT market has touched 50 billion dollar mark this year.

Chipmaker Intel Technology India bagged the award for best processor and motherboard of the year, while HCL Infosystems won an award for best PC with Indian brand.

"The IT industry is really booming in India and offering high employment opportunities, especially to the youths today," Canon India Assistant Director Parveen Sahni said, adding that a considerable number of workers are less than 25 years of age.
