Bengaluru | New Delhi: Campus hiring from the Class of 2023 by startups and ecommerce companies is likely to see some pullback compared to last year’s highs, amid a slowdown in the pace of funding, focus on profitability, a spate of recent layoffs as well as general caution and belt-tightening measures put in place by most companies.
ET reached out to over a dozen recruiters from the ecosystem on their campus hiring plans. While a few including Zomato, Indus Insights and ProcMart said their campus hiring targets had gone up compared to last year, others including Razorpay, Simplilearn, CashKaro and NoBroker indicated that their numbers would be flat or lower. Paytm and Dream Sports said they would be going to campuses but did not disclose hiring targets for the Class of 2023. Some of last year’s most prominent recruiters told ET off the record that hiring numbers would be rationalised. “We may go to campuses but will be more mindful.
There will be some hiring because of relationships but fewer offers than last year,” said Krishna Kumar, chief executive at edtech startup Simplilearn. Plans are yet to be firmed up, but the company is likely to hire more from business schools than engineering colleges this year, added Kumar.
