MUMBAI: Standard Chartered expects to hire about 600 employees in India in H2 2012, the company said. The planned hiring is excluding their outsourcing unit SCOPE International.

In the first half of 2012, the bank hired approximately 605 people across the group, ex-SCOPE, in India.

"We hired in the first half and our hiring is still on. The hiring will be mostly in frontline sales," said Madhavi Lall, regional head-human resources, India and South Asia, Standard Chartered Bank.

The company has lot of linkages across hierarchy and functions to enable its local team to work cohesively with their global counterparts and take inputs from different stakeholders within the organization to come up with strategies, she said.

Separately, as part of its employee welfare initiative, the company recently set up a medical facility in office for health check-ups, with in-house doctors based in the premises across the country. The company is organizing a sports challenge event that will run across the duration of the Olympics.
