Sanitation workers to paid a minimum of Rs 6,422 per month

Delhi Govt issued directions to bring all sanitation workers under the purview of labour laws which will help them to get a minimum of Rs 6,422 per month.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Government today issued directions to bring all sanitation workers under the purview of labour laws which will help lakhs of such employees to get a minimum of Rs 6,422 per month as wages.

The instruction to bring sanitation workers under labour laws was issued by Labour Minister Ramakant Goswami while chairing a meeting to discuss demands of sanitation workers.

"It was decided that all sanitation workers in government, semi-government and non-government institutions will henceforth be entitled for the payment of the remuneration as per existing labour laws," said a senior official of labour department.

He said a sanitation worker will have to be paid a minimum of Rs 6,422 per month.
