Retrenchment in IT sector a matter of concern: Rajiv Pratap Rudy

CHENNAI: Union Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy today said retrenchments in the IT sector was a matter of concern and the challenge was to see jobs do not shrink.

"It is a matter of conern... Our great challenge is to see that jobs do not shrink in the sector but much of it is also driven internationally and I am sure economy is going to rebound both domestically and internationally," he told reporters here on the sidelines of a function.

He was responding to a question on retrenchments in IT companies.

Stating that 'real wealth' had [also] been created through IT sector and back-end services offered in Bengaluru or Chennai, he said it had been a huge support base for IT sector.

The Minister said earlier he visited a Tata Consultancy Services facility here, where "a lot of innovations are being done."
