CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu government, after consultations with the trade unions, would announce the quantum of bonus to employees of its public sector units.
Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, in a statement, clarified that it issued an order recently for disbursement of bonus to the employees eligible to get bonus under the payment of bonus act before September 30, as the Centre had announced that the public sector units could claim income tax rebate only if the bonus was paid before that date.
Only the employees, whose salary did not exceed Rs.10,000 per month, were eligible to get the bonus under the act, he said adding others would get bonus and ex-gratia after relaxing the rules.
