​Proposal to create 4857 posts in Delhi Police sent to Finance Min

NEW DELHI: Union Home Ministry has proposed the creation of around 4,900 posts, including 1,950 for women, in Delhi Police, RajyaSabha was informed today.

To strengthen the force, a proposal for creation of 2,907 posts has already been sent to Finance Ministry for consideration, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran said in a written reply.

In addition, another proposal for creation of 1,950 posts for women personnel has also been sent to the Ministry, Ramachandran said.

"There is no apparent shortage in number of police personnel to the population in Delhi. Approximately, there is one police officer for every 200 citizens," he said.
