Pre placement offers jump by 14% at IIT Madras

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras received 130 pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year compared to 114 last year at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, a jump of 14%. The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, which coordinates its own internships and placements, has also recorded an increase in PPOs during 2018-19.

The internships are facilitated through an institute-coordinated process.“The good number of PPOs is hopefully indicative of a strong placement season. The steady increase over the years in PPOs also points to the value placed by recruiters on the internship program,” Manu Santhanam, Advisor, Training and Placement, IIT Madras, said.

Highest number of PPOs were received from the core and R&D domain (61%), followed by analytics, consulting and finance domains (19%). Qualcomm and Samsung Research gave out highest PPOs among companies (19 and 16 respectively).
