Pre-placement offers flood IIM-B; Day Zero cos lead way

BANGALORE: Pre-placements offers (PPOs) are flowing into the IIM-Bangalore campus. This year students have bagged 73 offers till now. In 2006, by the end of the year the college had received 60 PPOs and before final placements began, nearly 75 offers had poured in.
The initial trend shows that most offers have come in from Day Zero companies that include consultancy firms and investment banks. All consulting firms like McKinsey & Co, The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Bain & Co, AT Kearney and Trilogy have given PPOs to summer interns they hired from the campus.
Says BCG principal Rahul Jain: "We have been associated with IIM Bangalore since the last 7 years and our experience has always been fantastic. Our involvement in the summer programme for the last 2 years has been very fruitful, with every IIM Bangalore student so far receiving a final offer." These interns worked with these companies in different locations across the world including San Francisco, Australia, London, Texas, Singapore, Brussels and India.
Investment banks too have made offers for final placements to a large number of interns from IIM-B. Companies like Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank, ABN Amro, HSBC, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas, Barclays Capital, Citigroup etc have all made final offers to their interns who worked across locations like London, New York and the Asia-Pacific. Marketing companies are like HLL, P&G and Marico have also offered final positions to the students after the internship.
However, the number of students who have been offered PPOs is likely to go up. Many companies are still in the process of completing the evaluation of candidates.
