Placements: Skype comes to the rescue of IIT Madras
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has resorted to technology to ensure that its campus placement is not washed out by torrential rains that have flooded several parts of the city.

India’s oldest IIT in a first is using Skype to hold interviews for companies that are not able to make it to the campus for the placements, which started on Tuesday.

“This is the first time that Skype would be used to hold the complete placement process for companies. This was part of our contingency planning,” IIT Madras’ placement advisor Babu Vishwanathan told ETover phone. “We are giving this option to the companies as we are not sure about the weather conditions for the next few days.”
