NEW DELHI: The Indian IT-ITes has witnessed progressive growth in the last financial year with about 3.13 lakh IT professionals catering to domestic and international markets during the period, Parliament was informed today.

The IT-ITeS sector was able to secure new projects from various countries during the 2013-14 fiscal, Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Parsad said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha.

Quoting industry body Nasscom data, he added the export revenue of the industry is estimated at USD 80.6 billion during 2013-14 fiscal against 75.8 billion in 2012-13 fiscal, registering an increase of 13.1 per cent.

The Minister said 2.45 lakh IT professionals are working for international markets, while 6,80,000 professionals are employed in the country.

"According to Nasscom, no data is available in regard to per capita income of such professionals on a country basis," he added.

Besides, the government is also taking steps to help in the growth of the sector.

Commerce Ministry is helping small and medium sized IT firms to secure new projects through the Marketing Development Assistance ( MDA) and Market Access Initiative (MAI) schemes, Prasad said.
