Orissa plans mega job fair in Maoist-hit districts

This was part of the employment mission's drive to accommodate more youths from Orissa in para-military forces, sources said.

BHUBANESWAR: In its bid to encourage youths to join mainstream, Orissa government has planned a mega job fair in left-wing extremism (LEW) affected districts.

"A Mega Job Fair has been planned in left-wing extremism affected districts like Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabrangpur on March 12 and 13," said director of state employment mission A K Padhee.

This was part of the employment mission's drive to accommodate more youths from Orissa in para-military forces, sources said adding 2451 vacancies now existed in central para-military forces (CPMF) for the state youths. The number could increase in subsequent years, they said.

"District collectors have been advised to arrange Pre-Appointment Training camps to enhance chances for state youths in recruitment in para-military force," sources said.

The State Employment Mission has meanwhile launched an initiation for creating job opportunities for poor and less educated unemployed youths in Para Military Forces, security guard jobs, nursing, IT skills, handholding technical jobs, tourism, hospitality, handicrafts, textiles, gems and jewellery, mines, computers, eco-tourism, mason and others.

In a recent meeting chief secretary B.K.Patnaik held discussion with Central Staff Selection Commission chairman N.K. Raghupati in this regard.
