Online jewellery portal VelvetCase set to double headcount over next one and a half year

BENGALURU: Online marketplace of curated designer jewellery VelvetCase will be doubling its current headcount over the next 12-18 months, and is hiring talent for the technology and customer service departments.

“Our customer base is growing exponentially. To support this growth, we need talented individuals to join the company and help it reach greater heights. We are looking for those with a customer-oriented approach,” said Kapil Hetamsaria, CEO.

The startup, which currently has about 40 employees, will be hiring from institutes like NIFT, NID, and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research. Lateral hires will account for about two-thirds of the recruitment.

VelvetCase has more than 200 designers, retailers and manufacturers on board, and sells certified jewellery from around the world.

The venture has attracted Rs 6.8 crore in funding from a clutch of angel investors. Revenue has risen from Rs 3 crore in its first year of operation to Rs 23 crore in 2015-16.
