Nikon to scale up headcount in India by 25%
Japanese camera maker Nikon plans to scale up the headcount in India by 25% this fiscal to leverage its operations in the country, said a top executive of the company at the launch of eight new models of its flagship Coolpix brand of digital camer...
The new range is priced between Rs 7,450-Rs 25,950. The company is targeting 30% growth in revenues this fiscal as against 50% in 2008-09.
Talking about manufacturing plans in India, Nikon s managing director Hidehiko Tanaka said, Indian digital camera market has a share of less than 1% in the global pie and we would like to initiate production in the country only when there s enough demand.
The company intends to double its marketshare in the compact cameras category to 10% by this year-end.
