AKOLA: In his attempt to woo rural youth voters in Vidarbha with Lok Sabha elections round the corner, Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari said the Multi-Modal International Hub Airport (Mihan) concieved during the Shiv Sena-BJP government will generate huge employment opportunities.

"About four lakhs jobs would be created from investment of Rs 40,000 crore in Mihan and the opportunity would help to overcome agrarian crisis and unemployment in our region," Gadkari, who belongs to Nagpur and is an MLC from graduate constituency, making a presentation on Mihan at Lal Bahadur Shashtri stadium here.

"Unfortunately, we don't have skilled youths in Vidarbha to grab the opportunities so we can't blame others if they get these jobs," he said.

Gadkari also appealed education experts and university deans who were present for the program to start job-orientated courses in field of engineering, polytechnic, foreign languages, hotel management and aviation.

Currently, the Maharashtra Airport Development Corporation (MADC) is developing the project in over 4,000 hectares near the Nagpur airport.
