BANGALORE: IT giant Infosys and New South Wales (NSW) university have announced an internship programme where students from NSW will work on technology-based projects in India.

Called InStep NSW, the residential programme is aimed at helping the economy of NSW and bring in more hands-on experience to the students.

"InStep NSW will help students to develop a greater understanding of Asia, which we know is going to be of great importance as international business focuses increasingly on the region," said NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell.

Around 3-5 students will get shortlisted and work on real-world strategic projects on topics that are relevant for the NSW economy, like cloud computing or big data. The course will last for 8-10 weeks during the Australian summer living and working in an Infosys campus in India

"InStep NSW is designed to give students a 'money-can't-buy' practical experience," said Infosys senior vice president and Country Head for Australia and New Zealand Jackie Korhonen.
