Indian IT companies are poor paymasters, reveals a study
Indian information technology companies rank at an unenviable 24th place in terms of middle and senior manager-level salaries, a study across 40 countries by global recruitment tendering platform MyHiringClub.com has revealed.

The Worldwide IT Professionals Salary Survey 2013, shared exclusively with ET, factors in purchasing power parity and compares the total annual cash compensation and remuneration information of mid-career IT staff across 6,491 companies.

Without factoring in purchasing power parity, India would have been in the 33rd place — the eighth lowest worldwide. The study was conducted in September.

Indian IT managers’ average pay stood at $39,710 – less than one-fourth of the average salary at top-paying Swiss companies.

“Experienced India continues to be amongst the leading destinations for IT development, given its cost advantage. However, salary inflation and talent shortage could emerge as major challenges,” says Rajesh Kumar, CEO, MyHiringClub.com.

Salaries are going up for professionals with expertise in niche areas, he adds.
