Indian employees optimistic about economy in 2013

The study also stated that India has the highest score on receiving a pay hike in 2012 with 83% of the respondents surveyed having received an increment.

BANGALORE: Indian workforce is riding on an optimistic wave. Around 83% respondents in Randstad Workmonitor Survey 2012 - Wave 4 said that they expect economy to improve while 72% said the current scenario is good.

This high level of optimism was not shared globally as only 41% in other countries believed that economy at present was good. Around 90% of Indian employees felt their company was in good financial health compared to world average of 72%. China came a close second, as 89% of employees in China were positive about their firm's financial health while only 40% manpower in Japan said their employers were doing well.

"While the economic downturn continues globally, it is heartening to see that Indian employees are optimistic about the country's economic situation and their employer's stability. This is an opportunity for the line managers and HR professionals to build on the same to boost morale and drive productivity," E. Balaji, MD and CEO, Randstad India.

The study also stated that India has the highest score on receiving a pay hike in 2012 (for the period 2011) with 83% of the respondents surveyed having received an increment compared to global average of 55%. The study was carried over 30 countries.
