IIM-Visakhapatnam achieves 100% placement

NEW DELHI: The entire first batch of the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, except for one student, has been offered jobs at the summer placement season held recently.

The institute said 48 of the 49 students of the 2015-17 class who participated in the summer placement have secured jobs from 33 companies. One student opted out to pursue a startup.

IIM Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) is among the six new IIMs launched last year. It is currently operating under the faculty mentorship of IIM Bangalore (IIM-B). The summer placement was organised jointly by IIM Visakhapatnam and IIM Bangalore.

“The first batch of IIM-V student rose to the challenge of securing internships within two months of joining, with regular IIM-B recruiters making offers to IIMV students also,” said Ganesh Prabhu, chairperson, Career Development Services at IIM Bangalore.

In the first phase of placement held in November, 31 students of the batch were offered jobs, the institute said in a statement. In the second phase, several recruiters visited the institute’s campus over a period of three months. This phase concluded with 17 students securing inernship offers.

The companies that have recruited this year from the institute include KPMG, Ernst & Young, Xiaomi, Directi, Mindtree, Capgemini, Sutherland Global, Mphasis, Hopscotch, Mauj.com, Reliance ADAG, Jindal Group and HPCL.
