I-banks lead list of IIM-A's top recruiters
After IIM-Bangalore, all 263 students from the IIM-A '07-08 batch were placed within two slots of two days each.
In all 100 companies visited the IIM-A campus as a part of summer placements process this year. The firms that visited the campus include Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, BCG group and Bain Consulting. This year, companies like Blackstone PE, General Atlantic, Audax, Greater Pacific Capital visited IIM-A for the first time.
Other new firms on campus included investment banks and financial service majors like Macquaire, Rothschild, AIG and ING. Consulting majors Arthur D Little and Value Partners recruited candidates for summers for the first time. General Atlantic and ING recruited exclusively from IIM Ahmedabad.
This year, Goldman Sachs saw the highest number of acceptances at 17, followed by Lehman Brothers with 15 and Merrill Lynch, 13. A total of 123 students from the 2007-2009 batch will be interning abroad across various firms and functional roles. This year, the roles improved further, as over 60% of batch has prior work-experience. Around 35% of the batch has prior work-experience in non-IT areas including finance, engineering, manufacturing, operations, and marketing among others.
Firms like Procter and Gamble, Hindustan Unilver Limited, Coca-Cola, Cadbury, Dabur, Aditya Birla Group who traditionally hired only for their Indian offices, offered positions abroad.
