About 50% of employers in India looking to skill workers in Gen AI by end of FY25: Survey
A recent survey by Great Learning reveals that half of organizations in India plan to upskill their employees in generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) by the end of FY25. The study involved over 100 organisations with 10,000 to 15,000 employ...

Great Learning conducted the survey recently with the learning, development and business unit heads of more than 100 organisations with a headcount of 10,000 to 15,000. The survey’s findings were shared with ET.
“Enterprises intend to expand GenAI training beyond technical teams to include a broader range of roles,” said Ritesh Malhotra, enterprise head, Great Learning.
Among the roles that organisations are looking at skilling in GenAI are human resources, operations, marketing, and customer service.
The sectors covered in the survey included IT/ITeS (information technology and information technology enabled services), consulting, manufacturing, energy, finance, healthcare, education and retail.
The survey’s findings suggest that firms are prioritising the training for technical workforce over non-tech workforces in industries such as IT/ITES and global capability centres (GCCs).
According to the survey, banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) companies are investing in GenAI capabilities for their frontline teams and C-Suite leaders. While consulting firms are focusing on technical team training, IT companies are empowering their product engineering teams with advanced GenAI training.
"For instance, organisations prioritise practitioners like core data, technical, and AI teams in the IT/ITES sector, with specialised training for about 2-3 weeks," said Malhotra. “On the other hand, they recognise that leaders require only a few hours of training.”
Malhotra said Great Learning is also launching Generative AI Academy.
“For senior leaders, this provides the necessary insights to harness GenAI's potential for impactful decision-making and business growth,” he said.
