Hostesses-on-train clicks, recruitment on fast track

NEW DELHI: With the aviation sector facing problems due to the economic slowdown, many girls aspiring to become airhostesses are now turning to the railways to work as train hostesses.

The Railways has dedicated certain coaches on trains where passengers are attended to by hostesses. After the successful running of such special coaches on the Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri Kanchan Kanya Uttarbanga Express for about a year, the Delhi-Sealdah-Delhi Sampark Kranti Express will have two coaches with hostess service from the end of this month.

Two compartments of the train are being equipped with modern facilities and decor. Hostesses will serve specially prepared food. The compartments, for which extra fare will be charged, will also have private security personnel.

���We have already recruited 15 hostesses from a reputed airhostess training institute to manage our special coaches,��� said the tour operator given the contract to run the Kanchan Kanya and Sampark Kranti trains. ���We will be recruiting more hostesses in near future as we have plan to run similar service in the Delhi-Agra and Delhi-Jaipur routes for tourists.���
