This was the highest vacancy mobilisation by the National Career Service portal in any year since its launch in 2015.
The number of jobseekers shortlisted through the portal, which is maintained by the labour and employment ministry, increased 53% to 8.72 million in FY24 as against 5.72 million in FY23.
"The annual data for last year shows a surge in listing of jobs, which is a sign of a booming economy," a senior government official said.

The highest number of vacancies were listed in the finance and insurance sector at 4.66 million in 2023-24, compared to 1.99 million in 2022-23. This was followed by operations and support jobs at 1.44 million in FY24 (0.37 million in FY23), civil and construction sector at 1.17 million (9,396), other service activity at 1.07 million (0.35 million) and manufacturing at 0.68 million (0.11 million), the data showed.
