'Facilitate women to reach top positions in PSUs'
NEW DELHI: Urging for creation of an enabling environment for women to climb up the ladder in PSUs, apex body of public sector enterprises SCOPE has said more measures need to be taken to facilitate female employees.

Pointing out that the presence of women at Board level or as CEOs was "insignificant", SCOPE Director General U D Choubey said their role is mostly limited to services, home science and clerical side and a few women manage to go higher up in hierarchy.

Echoing similar sentiments, Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises Kusumjit Sidhu said: "We need to be sympathetic, considerate and supportive of our women colleagues to try and bring them up to their ability".

She was here to release the special issue of KALEIDOSCOPE Journal on Empowerment of Women in India.

Choubey also announced that SCOPE in collaboration with World Wellness Foundation will shortly organise Wellness Programme exclusively for women employees of public sector enterprises.

Renowned doctors are expected to participate in the Wellness Programme and give their advice on wellness of women employees in public enterprises, he said.

Choubey also highlighted that the recent SEBI guidelines on Corporate Governance and Companies Act 2013 mandating at least one woman Director on the Board of all listed companies should be complemented.
