Haryana Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda on Wednesday said that meritorious students of government schools will get free coaching to help them succeed in competitive exams like JEE, National Defence Academy and others. The Education Department is preparing a pilot project for this purpose, he said.

Dhanda said the state government is committed to further improving the quality of education in government schools and providing better facilities for students.

The coaching for the meritorious students will be provided after school hours by experienced government school teachers. If the project proves successful, it will be expanded across the state, he said.

Dhanda presided over a review meeting with the department officers in Panchkula on Wednesday, an official statement said.

He said that like private schools, parent-teacher meetings will soon be held regularly in government schools too. This will help parents stay informed about their children's academic progress and encourage their active involvement in improving the learning outcomes of their children, he said.

Talking about sports, Dhanda said that Haryana's athletes are making the state and the country proud on international platforms like the Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
