'Emerging biz in India on track for building leadership talent'
Though there is a shortfall of ‘leaders’ in India , new biz and pharma cos are gradually bridging the demand-supply gap, according to consultancy firm Kenexa.
Demand for leader-material employees is more in emerging sectors like technology, technological development, the electronic media, retail and customer services. In India, he said, the growth is faster than the supply of human capital to fill in leadership positions. “To deal with such a situation, in India, companies should make sure that the talent pool is wider and inclusive (in terms of gender, caste, region, etc),” he said. Unlike other emerging nations , the talent pool in India is quite big, he said. In India, there is a high level of awareness and organisations are recognising the issues and problem areas that hinder the building of leadership capabilities , Braybrooke said.
Companies are also recognising the importance of very early identification of leadership capabilities, he said. India provides huge potential for Kenexa to provide human resource solutions and the company is targeting about 25% of its revenue in FY12 from the country, up from 20% at present . Similarly, the company is expecting a 4-5 % rise in its global revenue in FY12, he said. With the growth, he said, the company will add up to 30% more employees annually to its existing workforce of 300 in India in the next few years.
