Companies such as DLF Golf Resorts, Hyatt Regency opt specialist firms for life-saving training for staff

Many firms are turning to specialist companies to train their employees on life-saving techniques and raising their awareness level.

NEW DELHI: As corporate houses seek to be prepared to tackle emergencies, many firms such as DLF Golf Resorts and Hyatt Regency are turning to specialist companies to train their employees on life-saving techniques and raising their awareness level.

"In large-operation based organisation, it becomes imperative that we do have employees who possess the basic knowledge on first-aid procedures," Hyatt Regency Training Manager Raghav Yadav said.

He said a majority of the staff at Hyatt Regency have been given professional training to handle any sort of emergency and provide basic first-aid to guests or fellow employees should a need arise.

Expressing similar views, DLF Golf Resorts Ltd Director Aakash Ohri said: "Such kind of training is important to handle any emergencies at work so as to make it a safer place. It helps one be prepared in any kind of situations."

Commenting on the growing trend of more and more corporates opting for such training for their staff, Vivo Healthcare Managing Director Shakti Singh said: "We train everyone from CEOs to security guards...but health and safety is in its infancy in the country but now firmly beginning to take root."

The Gurgaon-based Vivo Healthcare is among those firms which provides specialist trainers for providing life-saving techniques for its employees. Other firms which provides such services includes St John and Red Cross.

It provides a range of training from basic first aid courses for the layman to specialised trauma and emergency management training for emergency personnel.
