Chennai to generate 4.40 lakh more jobs
Chennai, along with Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, ranks among the top three in the list of cities that will generate maximum number of jobs in 2011, a survey said.
The survey said of the total hiring, Chennai will recruit 58.97% of freshers (zero to three years experience). While most cities reflected a similar skew, Pune is likely to hire 64.75% freshers and only 35.25% experienced people. On the sectors, transport, storage and communication (TSC) may hire 67.87% freshers, followed by trade - consumer, retail and services (TCRS) which may have 65.70% freshers and media and entertainment may recruit 63.35% freshers this year.
While, the energy sector will hire 55.65% experienced candidates, followed by the banking, finance services and insurance (BFSI) industries that will hire 52.68% experienced candidates. As for wages, TCRS will lead with 12.81% increase, followed closely by IT\ITeS at 12.4% and BFSI sector, which will increase wages by 11.20%. The energy sector will see the least increase at 8.82%.
