CEO compensation crosses Rs 2 crore-mark

The average CEO compensation in India has crossed the Rs 2-cr mark, on a CTC basis, says a study conducted by Hay Group.

NEW DELHI: The average CEO compensation in India has crossed the Rs 2-crore mark ($400,00), on a cost to company ( CTC) basis, says a study conducted by consulting firm Hay Group.

The CEO compensation in some large organisations in India was pegged at more than Rs 7 crore on a CTC basis, adds The Top Executive Compensation Report for 2011-2012.

For executives who were at a level below the CEO, the average compensation stood at Rs 1 crore ($200,000). CEO compensations will continue to rise, owing to the increasing cross-sector employability of CEOs, says Sridhar Ganesan, rewards practice leader, Hay Group.

The study covered 87 organisations across industries. The average CEO salary is 2.6 times that of the rest of the executive population, in terms of total CTC, excluding long-term incentives, it says.
