Campus hiring, compensation on upswing this year

Among business schools, tier-2 and tier-3 institutes have witnessed a higher year-on-year compensation growth, according to Aon Campus Study 2018-19, shared exclusively with ET.

In a survey of 352 companies across eight sectors, as many as 96% respondents indicated an improvement in business performance. This suggests a likely increase in hiring this year. What’s more, 37% companies projected an increase in compensation offered at campus placements compared to that last year while 62% said compensation will stay at the levels seen last year. Only 1% of the organisations indicated a drop in the compensation offered.

“With greater availability of employable talent today, organisations are also looking forward to hiring MBA graduates from tier-2 institutes,” said Anandorup Ghose, head of emerging markets at Aon. “This talent not only contributes to lower attrition rate as compared to tier-1 hires but also helps the organisation maintain cost arbitrage from talent perspective and ultimately reflect a low perceived risk of hiring.”
