Banking jobs: MP Ramamurthy demands fresh exams for Karnataka candidates
BENGALURU: Rajya Sabha member KC Ramamurthy (Congress) has urged Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to have the banking exams held in Karnataka for recruitment to three regional rural banks (RRBs) cancelled, and hold one exclusively for Karnataka candidates.

In a letter, he said, these RRBs serve the financial, banking and other needs of rural areas and their activities are limited to that specific state -- Karnataka, in this case. In such a case, the MP pointed out, it would not serve any purpose to have an outsider posted in rural Karnataka. An outsider, he pointed out, won’t be able to work in a rural bank when he or she knows nothing about the language or local conditions.

The decision of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection ( IBPS) to hold all India exams for RRBs would create animosity, and cause a feeling that outsiders are stealing their jobs, Ramamurthy said in his letter.
