A total of 800 doctors will soon be appointed in government hospitals in the state, Tamil Nadu Health Minister M.R.K.Panneer Selvam said in Dharmapur on Wednesday.
DHARMAPURI : A total of 800 doctors will soon be appointed in government hospitals in the state, Tamil Nadu Health Minister M.R.K.Panneer Selvam said here.
Inaugurating the classes of first year MBBS course at a newly launched Dharmapuri Government Medical College, he said that though medical security act was being enforced, doctors should serve 'with humanity' for the welfare of human beings.
Stating that tamil nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi had been taking initiatives to promote the health status in Tamil Nadu, paneerselvam said one of the steps was to give rice at Rs 2 per kg through PDS shops.
An amount of rs two crore was spent for laying the foundation stone for Theni Government Medical College during the AIADMK regime. However the DMK Government had spent just Rs,5,000 for its inauguration, he said.
The minister said 116 Primary Health Centres would be launched this year. About 20,000 staff were appointed in the past two and half years. All PHCs were functioning round the clock, he said.
Dharmapuri Collector P Amudha presided over the function.
