22% growth in new jobs in March 2016: Naukri Job Speak Index

MUMBAI: The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of March 2016 has recorded an increase of 22% in hiring activity over March 2015. The period from December 2015 onwards saw an increase in the hiring activity for sectors such as IT-Software, ITES, Telecom and Insurance.

Increased hiring sentiment was also recorded in Automobiles and Pharma sector, with index reporting a jump of 19% and 16% respectively for the month of March 2016 over March 2015. BFSI has recovered from a negative index last month to a 5% growth in the March 2016 index.

Demand for professionals in IT-Software and ITES has seen sustained growth in the last few months and for March 2016, professionals in these industries saw their jobs grow by 25% and 48% respectively.

Increase in demand for Sales and Business Development professionals was also seen during the period from Mar’15 to Mar’16 where the index fluctuated a bit during the year but ended with a 17% growth. Demand for Banking professionals also reported a 20% Y-o-Y growth in March’2016.

Among the metros, Hyderabad leads the city list in hiring activity with a 50% Y-o-Y growth in Mar’16 over Mar’15 followed by Mumbai and Chennai with 45% and 43% growth respectively. Delhi/NCR reported an increase of 42% in hiring activity in Mar’16 over Mar’15.

“Post 18% growth in February, the job market continues to sustain the momentum gained with a 22% growth in March. This growth is primarily driven by sectors viz.IT, ITES, Insurance and Telecom,” said V. Suresh, Chief Sales Officer, Naukri.com in a release.
