JEE Advanced 2018: Panchkula boy Pranav Goyal leads rankers’ list
A total of 18,138 students from the 155,158 who appeared for the exam, have qualified for entry into the prestigious IITs after the results of the JEE Advanced 2018 were declared on Sunday. This is more than 1.6 times the number of seats that are being offered, as per a press statement on this year’s results. Of the total qualified candidates, 2,076 are females.

Panchkula’s Pranav Goyal leads the rankers’ list, followed by Sahil Jain from Kota and Kalash Gupta from Delhi. Goyal, who topped the Common Rank List (CRL), scored 337 out of 360 marks.

Meenal Parakh is the top ranked female (CRL 6) with 318 marks out of 360 marks.


Of the total number of qualified candidates, 8,794 qualified under the general category, 3,140 under the OBC category, 4,709 under SC, and 1,495 under ST category.

The results were announced earlier today on the official website of the entrance exams.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur was the official convener the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced or JEE Advanced exams.

A total of 11,279 seats are being offered in the IITs this year. In 2018, 800 supernumerary (in excess of the normal number) seats have been created specifically for female candidates in the IITs in order to improve the gender balance in IITs and as per government directives. As per provisions, total supernumerary seats created cannot exceed 10% of the total seats being offered in the IITs.
