Railways have decided to resume in phases normal train services in Rajasthan, which were badly hit by the week-long unrest, in view of the end of the Gurjars agitation in the desert state.

NEW DELHI: Railways have decided to resume in phases normal train services in Rajasthan, which were badly hit by the week-long unrest, in view of the end of the Gurjars agitation in the desert state.

"Since agitation has been withdrawn, normal train services will be resumed shortly in phases", Railway Ministry sources told the media.

Railways had earlier in the day cancelled, rescheduled and diverted a number of its trains on various routes passing through the state besides running special trains to ferry stranded passengers at various stations.

After a review of the situation at 1530 hours, the Railway Board decided to cancel 10-trains and rescheduled 13 of them in order to provide safety and security to its passengers as also movement of trains, an official release said.

The Board had also decided to run special trains between Delhi and Jaipur and rescheduled several of them.

The 10 cancelled trains are: 2016 (Ajmer-New Delhi) Shatabdi Exp, 2980 (Jaipur-Bandra Terminus), 2462 (Jodhpur- Delhi), 2965 (Jaipur-Udaipur), 2966(Udaipur-Jaipur), 9781 (Jaipur--Amritsar), 2987 (Jaipur-Gwalior), 2015 (New Delhi- Ajmer Shatabdi Exp) and 4311 (Bareilly-New Bhuj Express).

The two partially cancelled trains are: 2465/2466 Sawaimadhopur-Jodhpur-Sawaimadhopur Express (between S'madhopur-Jaipur and S'madhopur and 2414/2413 Jammutawi- Jaipur-Jammutawi Exp (between Delhi-Jaipur-Delhi).

The three diverted trains are: 2461 (Delhi-Jodhpur) leaving Delhi via Bhatinda-Bikaner, 2958 New Delhi-Ahmedabad) Rajdhani Exp leaving Delhi via Mathura-Kota-Vadodara, and 9264 (Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Porbandar) leaving Delhi via Mathura- Kota-Vadodara, the official release said.
