Rlys steps in to spare you from cabbie nightmare
You may now be saved the tantrums thrown by unruly cabbies as you land at a railway station.
“The (IRCTC) is preparing a feasibility report and if found suitable, would be implemented accordingly,” said a senior official at Rail Bhawan. The scheme would be availed through a “multi-purpose card” already being used for buying railway tickets, carrying out banking operations, paying power and water bills as also other various purposes, he said.
A pilot project is being run by the Mumbai-Central Railway in this regard. Under the project in Mumbai, a card holder is allowed to buy even bus tickets, which could be extended to car rentals at other railway stations, too. The official said through ATMs “one can buy only railway tickets. But through the multi-purpose cards, one can even rent a car at railway stations”.
