Reliance is also trying to have an automated warehouse wherein, the handling of storage would be automated.
"We are planning to foray into the logistics and infrastructure business and we will make it available for all retailers who approach us," a top Reliance Logistics official told reporters on the sidelines of a Business Process Council conference here on Saturday.
Presently, the company is fine-tuning details such as how many logistics parks would be needed which would include facilities like cold storage, warehouses, supply of cold chain and others, he said.
"By March, we will chalk out the entire plan and will also come out with budgetary approval for the business," he said.
Reliance is also trying to have an automated warehouse wherein, the handling of storage would be automated, the official said.
"We plan to implement these by March 2008-09," he added. Presently, Reliance has implemented new technologies like Global Positioning System (GPS) and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), besides updating its retail stores with related softwares, he said.
In the next five years, the total number of Reliance Retail stores should have touched 2,000 but due to opposition in some states, the momentum of the Reliance Fresh category stores has slowed down, he added.
